A detailed sampled Bosendorfer 290 Concert Grand

EastWest Quantum Leap Pianos Bosendorfer 290 Platinum is a virtual piano that samples a 98-key, 9.5′ Grand Imperial Concert Grand. The piano itself has a warm, dynamic, resonant, and romantic tone. The extended low range gives you a body you can’t get from a traditional 88-key piano. Even the patches that only utilize 88 keys benefit from the resonance the extra ten keys provide.

This 88GB library has been painstakingly captured with multiple mic positions, and with sampling techniques that secure an authentic sound. For instance, piano-repetition samples have been recorded in real-time from 180 BPM performances; so when you go for a repetition, you’ll hear a recording of the real thing—not a retriggered, alternate sample. Sympathetic pedal resonances have also been recorded for every note at many different velocities.

A 9 foot and 6 inch Grand Imperial Concert Grand piano made in Austria in 2000. This particular piano was played by a Russian concert pianist for 4 years giving it a very warm tone with a huge dynamic range. It stuck out in a room full of world class pianos. It is a very romantic piano and sounds more like a Steinway than a factory tuned Bösendorfer. The Platinum Edition allows users to purchase a single license for one Piano from the East West QL Pianos.

Key Features:

  • 24-bit Samples
  • 3 positions are included per piano for maximum flexibility
  • 10-18 velocities per note of sustain and sustain with pedal

The QL Pianos were produced by Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix, the same production team that produced the multi-award winning EastWest QL Symphonic Orchestra and EastWest QL Symphonic Choirs. With the original library, all 4 pianos were included.
